Unable to be present for Senior Day, Alabama football head coach Nick Saban gave a tremendous message for his players on Saturday before the Iron Bowl vs. Auburn.
The 2020 edition of the Iron Bowl was different for seniors on the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Sure, they got to play against the rival Auburn Tigers, but they did so in front of a limited capacity crowd at Bryant-Denny Stadium due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Not only that, but head coach Nick Saban was unavailable to stand on the sidelines, as he tested positive for COVID-19.
Even though Saban wasn’t in-person for Senior Day, he did send his outgoing players an incredible farewell message.

Nick Saban’s message for Senior Day hit on all the right notes
Even though he couldn’t attend the festivities, Saban wanted to share his appreciation for his senior class and thank them for their contributions to the team over the years.
That message resonated well with not just seniors, but the entire team as a whole. With offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian serving as the interim coach, the Crimson Tide dominated Auburn throughout the contest. In fact, it wasn’t even close, as Alabama increased their Iron Bowl record to 47-37-1.
Senior Day at Tuscaloosa was just like every other annual event in 2020 — altered due to the coronavirus that continues to ravage the country. Even though they didn’t get the usually packed stadiums like Senior Days of the past (for good reason), they still got to revel in the fact that they got to defeat a hated rival. After this contest, the Crimson Tide will move onto their games against the LSU Tigers on Dec. 5 and the Arkansas Razorbacks on Dec. 12, barring any additional postponements due to COVID-19.
