Michigan football is trying to get back toward a winning record while Penn State football is still in search of their first win of the year as the two teams meet Saturday in Ann Arbor.

The 2020 season has been brutal for both Michigan and Penn State. The Wolverines actually started the year with a big win over Minnesota, only to lose three straight and barely scrape out a victory against Rutgers in their last game.

The Nittany Lions are still seeking one victory after what has been a disastrous 0-5 start. They just suffered a 20-point loss to Iowa and fans are reaching the end of their patience with James Franklin. A win over Michigan obviously won’t save the season, but it would finally be something to celebrate.

The oddsmakers aren’t quite sure which side to favor in this one. Michigan gets the edge but a one-point spread is essentially a pick ’em scenario. Both teams have suffered blowout losses, but Michigan’s have come against better competition.

Penn State lost to Nebraska and followed it up with a blowout loss to Iowa. Michigan should get the edge here when betting based on the fact they have confidence coming off a win. The Nittany Lions players have to be frustrated and going on the road doesn’t make this game any easier.

The Penn State offense should at least get a boost in this one against a defense allowing 36 points per game. The over seems to be a safe bet as both defenses allow that exact total of 36 points per contest.
