Sarah Fuller has inspiring message for girls after making college football history (Video)
Sarah Fuller made history as the first woman to play in a Power 5 college football game.
With a kickoff to start the second half of the Vanderbilt – Missouri game, Sarah Fuller became the first woman to play in a Power 5 college football game. It was the highlight of the day as the moment transcended sports and serves as an inspiration for little girls everywhere that they can achieve their wildest of dreams.
Vanderbilt didn’t get in field goal range or score a touchdown to give Fuller an opportunity to be the first woman to score in a game since New Mexico’s Katie Hnida did so in 2003, but she flawlessly executed her lone kick.
After the game, Fuller admitted she was more nervous competing as the goalie for the SEC champion Vanderbilt soccer team than she did suiting up for the game. But the bigger message was how she could represent for all the little girls out there who can use her example as a source of inspiration and encouragement.

“Honestly, it’s just so exciting,” Fuller said on the SEC Network. “The fact that I can represent the little girls out there who wanted to do this or thought about playing any sport really — it encourages them to step out and do something big like this.”
Hopefully, Fuller will get an opportunity to add to her historic achievement later this season if Vanderbilt calls on her for an extra point or field goal. Even without scoring, she made a sizable impact on the football program, the SEC, college football and all of those watching from home.
