Texas A&M looks to get a big win against a struggling LSU team. Here’s what you need to watch the Aggies host the Tigers.

The defending national champs took a tremendous step back this year. Last season, the LSU Tigers tore through every foe they faced in the Southeastern Conference thanks to one of the best offenses in all of college football history and an incredibly talented defense. As it turns out, losing the vast majority of your star players to the NFL, as well as a couple of key assistant coaches to other gigs, will set you back a bit.

LSU comes into its game against Texas A&M with a 3-3 record as they’ve struggled all season. Texas A&M, however, is in the middle of what could be a historic season for the Aggies, if some things go their way down the stretch.

While the Tigers are in the midst of a rebuilding year, Texas A&M has its sights set on possibly sneaking into the College Football Playoff. Given that the Aggies lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide by four touchdowns, the Aggies must finish out the season strong. That includes getting a solid win over the Tigers.

LSU’s defense is going to be the group to watch in this game. The Tigers’ offense isn’t as good as it was a season ago, but it’s still able to gain yards and score points. The defense, however, is abysmal. Right now, LSU is scoring 34.3 points per game. Meanwhile, LSU’s opponents have averaged 32 points per game. LSU has gained 451.5 yards per game while its opponents have averaged 472.7 yards per game.

This will be a perfect opportunity for A&M quarterback Kellen Mond to shine. LSU’s biggest weakness on defense is its inability to stop the pass. Keep an eye out for Mond to attack a defense that allows 335.8 passing yards per game. Expect that to be the difference-maker as A&M wins and covers.
