Trevor Lawrence’s flea-flicker TD to Cornell Powell is a thing of beauty (Video)
By John Buhler
Trevor Lawrence once again proves he is better than all of us at playing quarterback.
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence pulled off a beautiful flea-flicker to Cornell Powell for six in his return to the lineup after five weeks.
We had a feeling the Clemson Tigers were going to assert their dominance over the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Clemson had not played since falling on the road to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a few weeks ago. Not only did Clemson come out of the gates guns a-blazing, but Lawrence’s flea-flicker touchdown pass to Powell was as perfect as you could ever draw it up.
What makes this even cooler is Pitt attempted a flea-ficker on the previous possession but Andrew Booth picked it off in an amazing display of athleticism.
Clemson is hitting its stride in its late-season playoff push
For Clemson to make the College Football Playoff for the sixth-straight season, the Tigers will have to do so as ACC Champions. They have to win the ACC now because of their conference loss to the Golden Domers up in South Bend. While Clemson may not be the juggernaut we thought the team was at the start of the year, this is a team certainly capable of winning another national title.
This will be Lawrence’s last season at Clemson, as he is the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, either by the winless New York Jets or by the one-win Jacksonville Jaguars. Though neither professional team is the least bit good, it has been established that Lawrence is too talented to keep on carving up ACC defenses forever. He is ready.
Here is to Lawrence’s deep-ball skills translating to the NFL game right away for him as a rookie.
