Greg Jennings subtly refers to epic Madden highlight in broadcast booth (Video)
Greg Jennings will never forget that video game moment
Greg Jennings has easily transitioned from the playing field to the broadcast booth. Much like other wide receivers, Jennings was a staple in putting the offense on his shoulder and carrying them deep into the postseason with Aaron Rodgers.
Now, he references something like that from time to time when describing other wide receivers. This time, it was the 49ers’ top target Deebo Samuel.
Against the Los Angeles Rams, Samuel continues to be the one constant when healthy of Nick Mullens and the passing attack. Entering the fourth quarter, he tallied eight receptions for 98 yards and averaged over 10 yards per route.
Jennings realized that this late into the season, the 49ers are here to spoil other team’s outcomes. In a way, Samuel is putting the team on his back and carrying them to victory.
Anyone else remembers hearing that somewhere else before? Perhaps Madden, when Jennings broke his leg and still scored a touchdown? There is where you can remember that epic moment that happened on television.
From one star to another, celebrate the moment
A two-time Pro Bowler and standout player for the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings, Jennings was clutch for Rodgers early in his career. After nine strong seasons in the NFL, he elected to retire and pursue a career in broadcasting.
He finished his playing days with 571 receptions for 8,291 and 64 career touchdowns. He also was instrumental in helping the Green Bay Packers take down the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
While he wasn’t a superstar, Jennings was clutch. Samuel is still rising the ranks entering his second season but has shown the capability to be something special out in the bay. This season, Samuel currently has tallied 16 receptions for 185 yards and a score after missing a majority of the start due to injures.
Could he still be playing injured like Jennings was in that game? If so, the story becomes even funnier. Still credit to Jennings for taking a hilarious moment and putting it on national television.
