Raheem Mostert’s tear-jerking post-game statement will have us all hugging our family
Raheem Mostert gave an emotional speech following the 49ers’ victory Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers are facing plenty of adversity in 2020 after nearly winning the Super Bowl in February. There have been countless injuries and now they can’t even play or practice at home.
Raheem Mostert was one of the key injuries and the running back made his return from injured reserve Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. He found the end zone once and helped lead his team to a victory to improve to 5-6 and keep the playoff hopes alive.
The veteran back also provided quite the soundbite following the win. He got up on the podium and expressed how tough it has been for him this year. You may want to hug your family after seeing this.
Mostert gets real following a 49ers win
The COVID regulations are already a lot to deal with. Factor in an injury and the fact Mostert is living away from his family and it is easy to see why the emotions began to flow.
Some fans may forget that plenty of players play in a different place than where their family lives. That is not easy on anyone, let alone a professional athlete, and Mostert explains why having his teammates around him is so important.
This teammate bond will be even more crucial as the 49ers deal with the reality of finding a new home for practice and games starting this week. Santa Clara County put the team in a tough spot by banning practices and games for contact sports and the entire organization will have to rally together to stay focused in what has already been a crazy year.
Mostert and his teammates now have a chance to defy the odds and come together to get back to the postseason. Doing so while playing several December games in different locations would be quite the story when it comes to the unique 2020 NFL season. That would also provide material for another emotional speech from the running back.
