After internet star Jake Paul made relatively quick work of the former NBA star Nate Robinson on Saturday night, another athlete decided to issue a challenge.

On Saturday night, a big part of the entertainment world had their eyes on the boxing “exhibition” between the legends known as “Iron” Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr. However prior to that main event showdown, we witnessed a nasty second-round KO that still has all eyes on YouTube star Jake Paul.

Paul delivered a monstrous knockout on Saturday night, putting Nate Robinson down for the count. While most of Twitter has done their job of making comical references of Robinson on the mat, there seems to be an interest in challenging Paul to a future bout down the road.

That’s where NHL star Evander Kane comes in. On Saturday night, Kane took to Twitter and expressed an idea that maybe he should challenge Paul. After the world had the chance to sleep on that thought, we found out Sunday morning that Kane wasn’t joking around with a challenge.

Kane drew the official line in the sand, marking down a date and location for a potential meeting between the two. Obviously Twitter can be a pretty wide-open forum to make a statement, and this was his war cry to Paul.

It would make for an interesting fight between the two. Kane is no stranger to fights, as he’s racked up 24 fights over an 11-year career on the ice. Having brawled with some of the NHL’s best, he’s earned the reputation of being named after former boxing heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.

Looking at the “tale of the tape” between the two, Kane stands 6’2″ and weighs a modest 210 pounds. Paul is slightly smaller, at 6’1″ and weighed in at 189 pounds for his fight with Robinson. From a simple size standpoint, it would seem evenly matched. This was only Paul’s second professional fight, and he is now 2-0 for his efforts. While Kane is not professionally trained, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.

To follow up his challenge, Kane returned to the social media platform on Sunday night and retweeted his message. He also let it be known he’s “waiting for that answer,” and tagged Paul in the post.

Is this something that could actually get done? In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see. Who else would step up and lay down a challenge to the YouTube sensation?
