Will Fuller is now done for the 2020 season

The Houston Texans might have turned the corner last week, but things are looking south once more. Will Fuller played one of his better games at Ford Field in the Texans uniform on Thanksgiving.

It also might be his last with the organization.

Fuller posted on social media Monday that the NFL has suspended him for the next six games after he sought treatment from a medical professional. Come to find out later, the league had banned the substance Fuller had used under the performance-enhancing policy.

With five games left in the 2020 season, the Texans will be without their new No.1 target for the remainder of the year. Fuller, who’s set to hit free agency this offseason, will also miss one game in 2021 whether he remains in Houston or joins a different franchise.

Fuller apologized on Instagram, stating he hopes to “put this behind” him and be strong come next September.

Will Fuller could be in for a nice payday

Although he won’t finish the year, this was statically Fuller’s best season at NRG Drive. In 11 games, he led the team in receptions with 53 to go along with a career-high 879 yards and eight touchdowns.

Last week against the Detroit Lions, Fuller showed off his No.1 potential while throttling the secondary. Deshaun Watson connected with the speedy target twice for touchdowns, both going for 30-plus yard gains. He finished Thanksgiving afternoon with six catches for 171 yards and the two scores.

A career year for Fuller means a payday is on the horizon. The Texans should inquire about bringing him back for the right price and pairing him with Brandin Cooks for a quick rebuild. Without a first- or second-round pick, the Texans are likely to miss out on multiple standout targets in a coveted receiver class for the 2021 NFL Draft.

As for Watson, this is another damper on his race up the QB rankings and into the MVP conversation. Since the firing of Bill O’Brien, the fourth-year quarterback has yet to force a turnover while throwing for 15 touchdowns in five games.

Overall, even when Houston wins, they continue to lose at helping Watson.
