3 adjustments Las Vegas Raiders need to make so they don’t get upset by the Jets
3. Play average football
This sounds harsh, but it’s the reality of the Jets. There’s no direction for the franchise entering the final month of play and Gase continues to run of half-baked play designs that never seem to go his way. More often than not, he’ll trust Braden Mann to make a punt rather than risk his offense gaining two measly yards.
Winning for the Jets is now a problem since the Jaguars are equally terrible. With the hopes of getting the No.1 pick next April, the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes is theirs barring an upset. And despite injuries on both sides of the ball for the Raiders, this game is in their favor.
Carr has shown he’s a capable starter, specifically against terrible defenses. New York ranks in the top five of points allowed this season with an average of 29.3. The run defense has improved, sitting just outside of the top 10, meaning Carr’s passing will need to be on point.
Little dump passes or big-time plays to Henry Ruggs should get the job done. Anywhere outside of the trenches bound to lead to missed tackles left and right. Play smart, don’t force anything and try not to be cute with the play-calling. Just play a normal game and the Raiders are set to improve to 7-5 on the year.
