OF. 2. player. 17. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Atlanta Braves. Adam Duvall

Though parting ways with Atlanta natives Smith or Swanson could be somewhat controversial, we all know where the Braves have the luxury to sell high on a position group: Outfield. We know that Ronald Acuña Jr. is a mainstay in the outfield, Cristian Pache will be an every day starter in 2021 and Drew Waters is well on his way to the big leagues, guys like Adam Duvall are expendable.

Admittedly, Duvall has been one heck of a player for the Braves since coming over from the Cincinnati Reds. His power from the right side of the plate and his ability to deliver in the clutch has been a welcomed addition to the big league club for the last two seasons. Though still in his early 30s, the streakiness of his offensive game and defensive limitations have him on the block.

If the designated hitter becomes universal, then Duvall provides even more value to the Braves than he would normally. He is a less expensive version of Marcell Ozuna. While his bat is not as versatile as Ozuna’s, Duvall can be counted on to play meaningful innings in the outfield. He is not a defensive liability like Ozuna, but only slightly better than average when he is in the field.

So what makes him such a valuable trade commodity is immense power from the right side, clutch hitting and ability to hit anywhere in the middle of a lineup. A team in desperate need of right-handed power that can play some left field as well as DH would love to add a player like Duvall in the midst of a postseason run. It will be interesting to see what happens to Duvall in Atlanta.
