Chris Fowler eyes a fantastic finish to the Heisman race

ESPN college football voice Chris Fowler gives the sport a passing grade for how the schools have handled this challenging pandemic season.
The college football season is edging precariously to the finish line. There are two more weeks of regular season play to go before the conference championship games and bowl season. The season has had both its share of postponed and canceled games with big decisions looming on how to handle potential conference championship games.
Chris Fowler has been along for the ride, getting creative in his own way doing videos from wherever possible to stay connected with college football fans.
“Its been hard on fans,” Fowler said. “We focus on what the players go through but people who are passionate about college football, it’s important in their lives. It’s not just an escape or a diversion, which are needed right now, but it’s apart of their lives. People are still finding ways to gather and celebrate on Saturdays which is whats important. Safely, of course.”
Even Michigan fans probably appreciate an airport bathroom video at this point. Michigan will not play this week vs Maryland and who knows about next week against Ohio State. Asked by FanSided to give college football as a whole a grade on how the powers that be have handled the pandemic season, Fowler did not put the sport at the top of the class.
“The fact that we’ve had 15 games cancelled each of the the last couple of weekends people are shocked by that, I think it’s actually a good thing it hasn’t been more than that,” Fowler said. “Overall the grade given what’s going on, B. It could be done a lot better a lot of places, but the fact that some teams have been really smart and really organized and have had very few positive tests and their players are taking it seriously. I worried down the stretch though that teams that are not in the mix whose goals are shattered are they going to stay vigilant? We all knew this was going to be the case coming in, so none of this is a surprise to me.”
Michigan might not want to play Ohio State to end the year, per Fowler
Meanwhile as much as fans have been enjoying their college football, Fowler believes there are some Michigan fans who might not want to see their last game of the year take place for reasons other than health concerns.
“Things are not working out at Michigan. The fans are irate,” Fowler said. “I think their fans are seriously concerned about what is going to happen when they take on Ohio State because you have statistically one of the worst defenses in the conference which is amazing with a Don Brown coached defense. Their fans are justifiably concerned that Ohio State will go out there full throttle as they always do against Michigan and put 50 or 60 on em.”
Ohio State also has a Heisman candidate in Justin Fields that could use the games to make an impression. The same can be said for Clemson and Trevor Lawrence.
“I think for a lot of people it’s been (Justin) Fields or (Trevor) Lawrence and then (Kyle) Trask has been a little bit ignored, but he’s been out there putting up numbers every week,” Fowler said. “It’s not just Kyle Pitts and it’s not just playmakers. He’s got great playmakers, but he is super accurate. It’s going to be the Alabama showdown. They are going to have a playoff on the line, a lot more than the Heisman. But I think if Kyle (Trask) does well against an Alabama defense, that is not among the best defenses they’ve had, he’s right there.”
Chris Fowler is working with Dos Equis making an S-O-S call for fans to make the most of their remaining Saturday gamedays and tailgate set-ups—whether at home or away.
