Patrick Mahomes set another NFL record while you weren’t looking

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can’t stop setting NFL records. It’s a real problem.

Mahomes is a tremendous talent, and already deemed the best quarterback playing in the NFL today. By the time he’s done, he may surpass just about every meaningful league passing record, assuming he stays healthy. So what is just another measly monthly NFL mark for him to surpass?

In the month of November, Mahomes threw for an average of 399.5 yards per game, carving up every defense the Chiefs went up against. That mark is the highest per-game measurement for a quarterback in any month of any season in NFL history. Not too shabby, Patrick.

Mahomes makes history every time he steps out on the gridiron

The Chiefs played four games in November, winning each thanks to a consistent offensive output by Mahomes and Co. Against the Jets to start the month, Mahomes threw for 416 yards and five touchdowns. The next week, he put up a pedestrian 372 yards and four touchdowns in a 33-point outburst against the Panthers. In their revenge game against the Raiders, Mahomes had 348 yards. And last but not least, in their impressive showing against the Buccaneers, Mahomes had a whopping 462 yards and three touchdowns.

For any other quarterback, such performances would be accompanied with MVP talk and ascending status that would be discussed on every sports talk show in the country. But because we’ve grown so accustomed to what Mahomes can do with the football, his gaudy statistics have become second nature to us.

Of all the records Mahomes has broken and will surpass, this is far from the most impressive. But let’s take a minute and appreciate just how dominant he’s been in yet another MVP caliber season.
