When Kentucky football hosts South Carolina on Saturday night, they’ll do so in new uniforms that pay homage to the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
If you’re not watching The Mandalorian on Disney+ you’re missing out on one of the more fun shows around today. The Star Wars fan in your life is likely obsessed with the series and if you’re spending any amount of time on social media, you’ve likely seen all the great memes, theories and spoilers for the show.
Count Kentucky football among the fans because their uniforms for the game vs. South Carolina are inspired by Pedro Pascal’s character in the series.

The “Beskar” helmets are inspired by the helmet worn by the titular character which is resistant to lightsabers as shown in the episode from two weeks ago when it withstood attacks from Ahsoka Tano before the two realized they’re on the same side.
There was an additional Beskar element factored in that episode, but I’ll withhold that information as to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t watched or plan to watch. But it was awesome and I’ll just leave it at that.
That’s about the extent of my knowledge of the mythology of Beskar because this is a college football blog after all. But for fans of Kentucky football and The Mandalorian, this is a nice little nod to one of the best shows on TV.
New episodes of The Mandalorian are on Disney+ every Friday.
Kentucky hosts South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. ET.
