If Florida can get a win over Tennessee, the Gators will be headed on to compete for an SEC championship for the first time under head coach Dan Mullen.

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators are getting closer and closer to competing for a conference title. With one of the best offenses in the country, Mullen’s Gators have the potential to be national title contenders this season, if some things go Florida’s way. But before UF can contend for either a conference or a national championship, the Gators need to lock up the SEC East.

Currently, the Tennessee Volunteers remain an obstacle in Florida’s path. Jeremy Pruitt was hired the same year as Mullen, but he hasn’t had near the amount of success his rival has seen. But that should’ve been expected given what Pruitt inherited versus what Mullen received.

Pruitt is in the midst of his third season in Knoxville and he’s found himself drawing ire from Tennessee fans while his team struggles. An unlikely upset win over Florida for the Vols would calm some of the criticism he’s received and cool down his hot seat.

Pruitt and the Vols could really use a win here. Doing so helps salvage an otherwise disastrous season and would give Tennessee fans hope for what their team could accomplish in the future. But an upset over the Gators doesn’t really seem likely.

With Heisman candidate Kyle Trask leading his offense, Mullen seems poised to take his team to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Mullen and the Gators can’t afford to overlook their current opponent, rivalry games are known for being the perfect occasion for upsets, but Florida should win, cover and this game should hit the over.
