Boxer Viviane Obenauf arrested on suspicion of beating her 61-year-old husband to death

Female boxer arrested on suspicion of beating her 61-year-old husband to death.

Well, that’s not a headline you read every day.

According to Globo (h/t Bloody Elbow), 34-year-old Viviane Obenauf was arrested in Switzerland on suspicion of beating her 61-year-old husband to death. Her husband was only identified as “Thomas” due to privacy laws.

The victim died in the home he shared with Obenauf and was reported to have “sustained violent assault” with an object.

According to the Swiss newspaper, Blick Obenauf’s ex-boyfriend claimed she had assaulted him in the past. Obenauf married the victim in January.

Viviane Obenauf is a former boxing champion

Obenauf, formerly of Brazil, is a former boxing champion who last fought in 2019 where she lost the IBO super featherweight title to Terri Harper via unanimous decision. She holds a 14-6 record and previously held the WBF International lightweight and WBA International super featherweight titles.

According to Obenauf’s Instagram, she has a young child.
