Larry Csonka celebrates 1972 Dolphins perfection like a boss after Steelers loss

The Hall of Fame fullback celebrated as another undefeated NFL team bit the dust on Monday night.
The only team in NFL history to hold an undefeated record and win the Super Bowl was the 1972 Miami Dolphins. Many teams tried to replicate that feat, but none were successful. Not even the 2007 New England Patriots could do so, as they suffered a stunning loss to the underdog New York Giants in Super Bowl 42.
In 2020, the newest threat to the legendary Dolphins team were the Pittsburgh Steelers, who held an 11-0 record on Monday morning. They had an easy matchup on paper against the Washington Football Team. However, Pittsburgh shockingly fell to Washington by the score of 23-17 to earn their first blemish of the campaign.
As the game was nearing its end, former Dolphins fullback and Hall of Famer Larry Csonka tweeted out a video of himself smoking a cigar with an alcoholic beverage in hand while proudly saying he was “a Washington fan.” Well a fan on Monday night, to be exact.
Csonka with the legendary celebration
Smoking a cigar while drinking some hard liquor on a Monday night. Csonka is living the life, and we’re all admiring him for it.
Csonka played a pivotal role on the 1972 Miami team that regular-season. In all 14 games, Csonka rushed for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns on 213 carries. That postseason, Don Shula-led Dolphins defeated the Cleveland Browns (20-14) in the Divisional Round and the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game (21-17) to reach Super Bowl 7. There, the Dolphins defeated, ironically, Washington 14-7 to win the Lombardi Trophy.
The Steelers started their season off strong, but they fizzled out in recent weeks. They put up a lackluster effort against the shorthanded Baltimore Ravens last week and the offense couldn’t capitalize on a strong effort by their defense against Washington. A Pittsburgh loss was expected, but no one believed Washington would be the ones to hand it to them.
Csonka let the world know that while the ’72 Dolphins are often imitated, they will never be duplicated.
