Dez Bryant has apparently decided to opt-out of the rest of 2020.

While the Baltimore Ravens have been dealing with a COVID-19 breakout that was so massive it forced dozens of players to hit the COVID-19 list while postponing several games, fans could at least take solace in the fact that they could watch wide receiver Dez Bryant take on his old team in the Dallas Cowboys. However, a positive COVID-19 test just minutes before the game knocked Bryant out of proceedings, and the man himself was completely inconsolable after hearing this.

Bryant didn’t take the news well, saying that he “can’t deal with this” before apparently opting out of the rest of the 2020 season.

Dez Bryant’s career has been full of bad luck since leaving the Cowboys

Bryant was one of the most dominant receivers in the game during his prime, as he hauled in 73 touchdowns in his eight seasons as a Cowboy. After his release in 2017, however, finding work has been quite a difficult task for the former Oklahoma State star.

Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time First Team All-Pro, signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2019 after sitting out all of 2018, but he tore his Achilles before appearing in a game. He has seen limited action since signing with the Ravens, catching four passes for 28 yards in his first game action since 2017. Bryant was supposed to give Lamar Jackson a weapon that he can trust in the red zone, but that plan is looking almost impossible to bring to fruition after Bryant’s recusal from the rest of 2020.

Bryant was at one point one of the best receivers in the game. It’s genuinely heartbreaking to see the end of such a hardworking, motivated player’s career cut short by one bad break after another.
