White Sox: Chicago not remotely done adding this Winter

The White Sox have been aggressive early this offseason, and they’re not done making impact additions.

Chicago traded for Lance Lynn late on Monday night, sending shockwaves around baseball as they lit the hot stove in the process. On Tuesday morning, the Sox filled another hole in their lineup by adding a familiar face in Adam Eaton in free agency. Eaton is by no means the same player he was when he left the South Side in 2016, and is already off to a rough start in his reunion tour after hanging up on a local radio station when faced with questions about Tony La Russa.

Despite making two rather large additions in the last 24 hours, Rick Hahn is far from done.

Who else might be on the White Sox radar?

The White Sox still need to make a decision on closer Alex Colome, or perhaps add bullpen depth. Not to mention, Eaton shouldn’t be their only outfield addition. Chicago could be in on Michael Brantley, as Jayson Stark pointed out, who would be a far more capable power bat in the White Sox lineup.

Backup catcher is also a need on the South Side, although that’s sure to come later. If the Sox wish to get fancy, they could even sign another pitcher to go alongside Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel and Lynn.

The point remains, though, that the White Sox are reportedly among the only teams willing to spend significant money in free agency as they aim to speed up their competitive window. This includes interest in reliever Liam Hendriks, arguably the best reliever on the market.
