2021 NFL Mock Draft: Six quarterbacks go in the first round
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets hold two first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, and after finding a new franchise quarterback with the first pick overall, they attack the secondary late in round one with Seattle’s selection. The Jets need help at cornerback, and they can get an elite prospect at No. 25 in Jaycee Horn, who would join a young, but talented cornerback room.
After adding a franchise quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars use the Los Angeles Rams’ selection to bring in a No. 1 target for him. Pat Freiermuth is the kind of tight end that can make life very easy for a rookie quarterback, joining Kyle Pitts as the only first-round tight ends in this draft class.
The Cleveland Browns had a bit of a shocking victory this past weekend, and are close to securing a spot in the playoffs with their ninth win. On defense, they have some dynamic young players, and in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, they get a first-round linebacker who can play sideline to sideline, is a great tackler, and outstanding in coverage.
The Buffalo Bills are for real, and on Monday night, they showed that they can go on the road and get a big victory against a solid San Francisco 49ers team. Josh Allen looks like the real deal in terms of being a franchise quarterback, so protecting him is priority No. 1, and they plan for the future with Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi here.
