Houston Rockets: Three Opening Night stars will be traded

Harden’s recent decision to skip the start of training camp makes it obvious he wants out of Houston. The Rockets will draw a hard line at first, but eventually, they’ll receive an offer they can’t refuse for the perennial MVP candidate.

His departure will open the flood gates. Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker will also be dealt. Fans in Houston should prepare for big roster changes this season.

Indiana Pacers: Victor Oladipo will sign an extension

Oladipo’s stock is all over the place around the league. A healthy start to this season will make his value crystal clear to the Pacers. His Indiana roots also make him a player amenable to staying with the team for the long haul.

He’s not going to get a max extension, but the deal he signs won’t be too far away. It might be an overpay for the Pacers in time, but they are a market that has to overpay for high-end talent.

L.A. Clippers: Nicolas Batum will become a starter

Batum was so bad in Charlotte that the team opted to waive and stretch him rather than keep him on the roster. Expect his career to be rejuvenated in LA.

At his best, Batum is a versatile big who can help the Clippers offense with his passing and shooting ability. On defense, he can toggle effectively between the three and four spots if he’s in shape. Expect the Frenchman to find a way to force his way into the team’s starting five come playoff time.

Los Angeles Lakers: Dennis Schroder will outscore LeBron James

The Lakers acquired Schroder to help them rack up games in a shortened regular season. That’s why he is going to outscore the game’s most talented player before the postseason arrives.

Part of Schroder’s success will be attributed to the fact that he’ll play far more often during the regular season. James is going to take plenty of nights off. That will allow Schroder to put up a ton of shots in his absence.

Memphis Grizzlies: Justise Winslow will be non-factor

The Grizzlies gambled on acquiring Winslow at last year’s trade deadline instead of keeping cap space for the summer. Winslow still hasn’t played a minute in Memphis due to injury.

The news that he won’t be ready for the start of the regular season puts his status with this year’s team in serious jeopardy. His health issues are going to result in the Grizzlies declining his team option and letting him head to free agency as soon as possible.
