Giants: 3 free agents to sign and 1 to avoid this offseason
By Mike Luciano
Getting a new center fielder in San Francisco is always a challenging proposition. Not only do the Giants need to find someone who can take advantage of their short porch in right field and their triples alley in right-center field, but they need to grab someone with the speed and defensive wizardry to patrol that expansive outfield every day. With Bradley considering bolting Boston after spending his entire career there, the .283 hitter and Gold Glove winner will have plenty of teams vying for his services. If they aren’t at the front of the line right now, San Francisco needs to make a serious push for signing him.
The Giants have been averse to spending a ton of money in free agency of late, and Bradley would require the organization to make some philosophical changes given how he will likely look for a hefty multi-year deal. While Bradley may never be a truly game-changing offensive superstar, he has shown that his offense has improved from 2019 to 2020 while his defense remains as excellent as ever. Bradley could hold on to the center field job for a half-decade in San Francisco.
