1. Denver Broncos

Denver has been searching for quarterback stability since Peyton Manning retired following the 2015 season.

Drew Lock was supposed to be the answer, but the hype surrounding him has faded. The Broncos are 4-8 so far this season and Lock has nine touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions in his nine games.

John Elway loves to try just about anything and anyone at quarterback, making Newton a realistic option. He can come in and immediately enter a competition with Lock for the starting job. A healthy Broncos receiving corps in 2021 would also be an upgrade over what Newton has worked with in New England.

This would be another situation where Newton isn’t facing a ton of pressure. Lock is the one looking to hold down the job. The veteran Newton would likely show up on a one-year deal and could play freely in a system where the skill pieces are already in place.

Even if Lock did win a competition, he would be on a short least and Newton could be seen as the savior waiting in the wings. Heading to Denver is perhaps the most likely destination given Elway’s past moves at quarterback.
