New York Jets: Working with Joe Douglas

Joe Douglas was hired as the Jets GM due to his relationship with Adam Gase. Soon, he’ll be the Brutus to Gase’s Caesar and send him packing. Should that worry whoever comes in next?

The franchise will be doing a complete rebuild, hoping to get it right with the next hire. More than likely, the person leading the club will have a say on keeping Sam Darnold, drafting Lawrence and deciding who they should sign or cut ties with. That’s all if Douglas allows them
.
Overall, Douglas seems reasonable and the team knows their rebuild will take time. Could the Jets be so dysfunctional, there’s not a red flag worth mentioning?

Cincinnati Bengals: Fixing Joe Burrow

Zac Taylor might be the scapegoat for the Bengals’ struggles, but Duke Tobin should be out of a job. Thanks to the team’s inability to draft or sign offensive lineman, the franchise could be set back years with Joe Burrow’s ACL and MCL injury.

The reality is that if Burrow wants the team to go in a different direction, they have to do what their franchise quarterback says. That means Burrow will have control in the hiring process of the next person in command, which could be good or bad.

If Burrow struggles and becomes a bust, no one will blame his mechanics or injury. The blame will be on the next head coach for failing to improve the club. Cincinnati is also known for being penny pinchers so have fun drafting potential busts on the line.

Dallas Cowboys: Dealing with Jerry Jones

This is quick to discuss. The Cowboys expected Mike McCarthy’s pedigree and Super Bowl-winning style to translate immediately to the Cowboys. The team sits dead last in the NFC East and the defense is atrocious in all areas.

If the team fires McCarthy and Mike Nolan, that won’t change ownership. Jerry Jones believes that even with massive concerns in the secondary, ludicrous contracts and the whole Dak Prescott situation, he’ll want to win now. More than that, he’ll believe that the Cowboys can.

Dallas will always be “in the mix” while Jones is calling the shots. If the next coach can’t win, he’ll be out as fast as McCarthy could be.
