3 reasons Seahawks are bigger threat than Rams come playoff time
By John Buhler
1. Seattle has the better quarterback, and that is the most important thing here
Sure, you may argue things like how well the Rams defense is playing under defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, McVay’s track record with leads at the half and the Rams winning already over the Seahawks in Los Angeles, but let’s be real for one second. This all comes down to one thing. Which team has the better starting quarterback? Russell Wilson is light years better than Jared Goff.
Wilson is universally viewed as a top-three passer in the league, behind Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and fighting for second place with Aaron Rodgers of the Packers. Goff is a talented signal-caller as well, as he was taken with the No. 1 overall pick out of Cal back in 2016. However, rarely is Goff even viewed as a consistent top-10 passer in the league now in year five.
Though Wilson will not win NFL MVP, he will hopefully get a vote this time. While Goff is certainly capable of winning a playoff game or two for the Rams, everything has to go right for Los Angeles for that to happen. Simply put, Wilson is a tractor and Goff is a trailer. Wilson is the driving force behind the Seattle offense, while other star players are the ones to pull Goff towards success.
Big moments call for big plays from big-time players. Again, if it is the 11th hour of a tight ball game in the NFC playoffs and you need a quarterback to win you the ball game, are you going to put all your eggs in Wilson’s basket or Goff’s? Wilson has regularly made chicken salad out of chicken mess. Goff can do it too, but he needs McVay in his ear every step of the way to guide him.
Which NFC playoff contender do you think will go further this year: Los Angeles or Seattle?
