DeVonta Smith really does it all for Alabama football.
You already know Alabama football star DeVonta Smith is the best receiver in college football. But he’s also a pretty lethal punt returner after taking one back to the house against Arkansas for his first career punt return touchdown.
He really can do it all and his game is why many in the college football media are advocating for the wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy.
Smith has a chance but as a wide receiver, the odds are stacked against him. Nevertheless, he is the best player regardless of position and at a minimum should be a finalist. But members of the media aren’t settling for that. They want Smith to win the Heisman.

I may be in the minority but the Heisman cases for DeVonta Smith and Kyle Pitts exceed that of their respective QBs. Many awards to be decided in Atlanta next week.

This Heisman thing is getting complicated. #devontasmith

The Heisman was thought to be a two-man race between Smith’s quarterback Mac Jones and Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. However, with the two teams meeting in the SEC Championship Game next Saturday, Smith may have a chance to work his way to the top of the Heisman hierarchy.
