College football DFS quarterback picks December 12:

Top Tier:

From what I’ve seen, I’m basically on an island in thinking BYU isn’t going to just walk all over the Aztecs. I don’t like the price on Zach Wilson. I think he stays closer to 20 DraftKings points than 30 which means that Chase Cordeiro is likely a better per-dollar play. He definitely has a better matchup.

Jake Haener went nuts on Nevada last week, about two weeks after he lit up Utah State. Haener has a superb matchup in a pass-happy offense. Cordeiro probably has a better floor with the rushing yardage, but I think Haener has slate-breaking ability if Fresno continues to throw once they’re ahead. They may not though, which makes Haener a bit of a risk.

Middle Tier:

That price on Davis Mills is nice, but he’s not going to be the guy carrying the load for Stanford. Oregon State’s ball-hawking secondary has picked off five passes in five games and only allowed eight passing touchdowns. The way to get the Beavers is on the ground and Mills doesn’t run. He has a low ceiling.

Isaiah Chavez ended the long losing streak for the Lobos and will be rewarded with the start tonight. Fresno’s defense is porous, so I like the upside for Chavez if you can deal with the inaccuracy and occasional turnover. For this price, I’ll put up with it.

Bargain Shoppers:

Tristan Gebbia will be out again, so we get more Chance Nolan. That’s not a bad thing. Nolan held his own against a solid Utah defense and nearly got the come-from-behind win. Stanford’s defense isn’t up to Utah’s standards right now. We could see a really nice game from Nolan for cheap here.

Jordan Brookshire will start for the Aztecs here, but Lucas Johnson will be at the ready on the bench. If this sounds like a nightmare situation, it is. However, Brookshire is absurdly cheap. He did pretty well against a good Colorado State defense last week, so there’s a chance he puts up a nice total here. I will say that the ceiling is rather low though.
