Dan Bailey’s kicking could cost the Minnesota Vikings a playoff spot.

Sitting at 6-6, the Minnesota Vikings are down, but not out. With the hopes of making a playoff spot in the NFC, every win counts.

If it comes down to Dan Bailey, that might seal the deal for Minnesota in a negative light.

During Sunday’s outing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bailey was asked to make a chip shot point after attempt following the Dalvin Cook touchdown. He missed the the left. Later, he would have a chance to make up for it with a 36-yard field goal.

Nope, missed that too.

However, the storyline of Bailey’s blunders must have came during the second quarter when Mike Zimmer asked Bailey to go for a 54-yarder. Not only was it far right, but it barely stayed inside the television frame as it soared to the end zone at Raymond James Stadium,.

Bailey’s struggles have been widely true over the past two weeks.

It’s not as if the yips came out of the nowhere for Bailey. Since the team’s overtime victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bailey has gone 3-of-9 on field goals and PATs.

Bailey’s kicks in the past two weeks might have fans wondering if he’s been betting against the Vikings. With each miss, it could make the veteran kicker a bit richer and cost the Vikings a chance to rebound after a 1-5 start.

Anyone else remember when Vontae Davis retired at halftime? Could Bailey follow suit? For the sake of the Vikings playoff chances, it might be best for all involved if the kicker hung up his cleats the rest of the day.
