Several stats prove why Aaron Rodgers should be the clear favorite in the NFL MVP race.

The Green Bay Packers used a first-round pick on quarterback Jordan Love earlier in 2020. Now Aaron Rodgers is a favorite to win NFL MVP. If only the team had added another weapon to use now. But that is a story for another time.

Rodgers is playing out of his mind and has set himself up to win his third MVP award. However, plenty of the national attention has been on Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs being 12-1 a year after winning the Super Bowl helps his case.

The narrative shifted this past Sunday when Mahomes threw three interceptions in Miami. Now Rodgers has jumped ahead in the award conversation and several stats prove why.

3 stats proving Rodgers in the MVP over Mahomes

3. A simple TD/Int ratio

Let’s start with something simple.

Mahomes was applauded all season for only throwing two interceptions in his first 12 games. Then came the three against Miami to up his total to five on the year. Rodgers is still only at four and has not thrown one in the past three games.

What he has done in that span is combine for 10 passing touchdowns. He now leads the NFL with 39, which is six more than Mahomes’ mark of 33. While Mahomes does have the edge in yards, Rodgers has a higher quarterback rating as well to go along with this scores and ability to take care of the ball.
