The Philadelphia Eagles need to nail it with their first-round pick in 2021.

The performance of Jalen Hurts after the unceremonious benching of Carson Wentz has some Eagles fans thinking that they are just a quarterback away from re-entering the NFC playoff picture. However, this roster is paper-thin in several key areas, and their poor injury luck exposed the lack of depth.

Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson could choose to either get aggressive and land one singular superstar or try to stockpile picks as they build depth. Regardless of their mindset, these three players have to be given long, hard looks by Philadelphia.

The Eagles should try to use their first-round pick on one of these three future studs

Despite being one of the first players to opt out of the 2020 season, Farley has been consistently projected as a first-round pick, although Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II has started to pull away and secure the CB1 title.

The Eagles, currently picking No. 9 overall, would be more than happy with Farley landing in their spot, as their secondary outside of Darius Slay remains as patchwork as it has ever been. Farley is an unusual prospect with some concerns, as he was a high school quarterback who started his college career at wide receiver before moving to cornerback. The injury history isn’t great, either, as he has a torn ACL on his medical sheet.

However, if the Eagles want a big, physical corner that can break up passes and initiate turnovers, Farley is the man for the job. His ability to mirror routes and take receivers out of a play at the line of scrimmage is exemplary, and may even surpass that of Surtain.

A solid athlete that is able to snag difficult interceptions and show off the speed to run with anyone down the field, Farley is a well-above-average tackler that can lay some wood as a run defender. The Eagles can deny it all they want, but they need another stud in the secondary, and Farley certainly qualifies.
