1. Taysom Hill vs. the Chiefs’ front seven

The Saints come into this weekend’s marquee matchup licking their wounds after dropping a game to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. The Chiefs come into the game flying high after a solid win over the Dolphins. That puts Taysom Hill under immense pressure to prove that he can win a big game for New Orleans.

Sean Payton and his offensive coaching staff are going to turn Hill loose to use all of his physical gifts in this one. Look for him to run the ball more than he has at any point during this season. That will put a lot of pressure on Kansas City’s front seven to match the Saints’ physicality at the point of attack.

Chris Jones will be counted on to blunt New Orleans’ efforts to run the ball up the middle. It will be his responsibility to handle the Saints’ dive game on the interior. Frank Clark will be tasked with containing Hill when he tries to keep the ball and find his way to the perimeter. Clark doesn’t need to make a ton of tackles, but he needs to blunt Hill’s momentum to buy his teammates time to get into the right gaps.

When New Orleans has the football this game is going to turn into a tightly-packed chess match around the line of scrimmage. The Chiefs will ultimately try to crowd the line so much that Hill is forced to beat them through the air. The Saints’ chances of winning this game largely depend on making sure Hill isn’t forced into that tight spot.
