Xavian Sorey takes his five-star rating to Georgia football by signing on Wednesday.

Georgia football picks up its fourth five-star commitment of this cycle in linebacker Xavian Sorey.

Sorey picked the Georgia Bulldogs over the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators on National Signing Day. Sorey is the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country, the No. 6 player from Florida by way of the IMG Academy in Bradenton and the No. 20 overall player in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. What a huge get for the Dawgs to land this five-star.

Georgia continues to recruit at a high level under head coach Kirby Smart

Sorey is the fourth five-star to sign up to play for the Dawgs in this cycle, joining quarterback Brock Vandagriff (Bogart, GA), offensive tackle Amarius Mims (Cochran, GA) and fellow outside linebacker Smael Mondon (Dallas, GA). With Sorey’s National Letter of Intent going through, he joins Vandagriff as the second official five-star for Georgia. Mims and Mondon are only committed.

Under head coach Kirby Smart, Georgia regularly recruits at a top-five level. It is a big reason why the Dawgs have been College Football Playoff-caliber in most years and are expected to play in their fourth straight New Year’s Six bowl this holiday season. By landing Sorey out-of-state, it could mean the Dawgs are in for a strong finish as National Signing Day is starting to wind down.

Look for Sorey to thrive playing under defensive coordinator Dan Lanning in the coming years.
