The early National Signing Day period may feature a future Heisman Trophy winner.

Early National Signing Day could mean a future Heisman Trophy winner has joined his team.

Wednesday is a special day for all of these top recruits and their families. They can finally put pen to paper on their National Letter of Intent, telling the entire college football world where they are going to go to school. With many five-stars signing this week, let’s take a look and see what players from this recruiting class are capable of maybe winning a Heisman Trophy one day.

5 top recruits with Heisman Trophy potential

Pick Analysis. player. 818. Scouting Report. QB. Washington Huskies. Sam Huard. 5

Sam Huard has NFL pedigree on his side, as he is the son of Damon Huard and the nephew of Brock Huard. The Bellevue native stayed in-state with the Washington Huskies as a surprise to absolutely no one. While Washington is not known for pumping out Heisman winners, the Dawgs are a fantastic Pac-12 program. Maybe Huard can thrive under head coach Jimmy Lake at U Dub?

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clemson Tigers. 879. RB. Will Shipley. 4. player

The Clemson Tigers may be better known for producing star quarterbacks, but they might have landed themselves one heck of a running back in Will Shipley out of Matthews, North Carolina. Shipley projects as a Joe Mixon-level of talent at the college level. With Clemson staying the best team in the ACC for the foreseeable future, Shipley plays in the right team in the right conference.

Brock Vandagriff. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Georgia Bulldogs. 3. player. 814. QB

Perhaps native son Brock Vandagriff will be the quarterback to lead the Georgia Bulldogs back to the promised land? The Bogart native headlines yet another strong Georgia class. With his dual-threat play-making abilities, Vandagriff has the upside to take Georgia deep into the playoff, assuming he has the right offensive coaching staff around him to get the most out of his talent.

Pick Analysis. RB. 2. player. 812. Scouting Report. Ohio State Buckeyes. TreVeyon Henderson

The Ohio State Buckeyes put together a phenomenal recruiting class. One player who could get them over the top and on the precipice of winning more national titles is running back TreVeyon Henderson. Billed as the next Christian McCaffrey, as with Shipley at Clemson, Henderson plays for the right team in the right conference to win the Heisman Trophy as a superstar running back.

player. 815. Scouting Report. Oklahoma Sooners. 1. QB. Caleb Williams. Pick Analysis

Easily the best bet to win a Heisman Trophy out of this class is Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Caleb Williams. Not only is the Washington, D.C. native the best quarterback in his recruiting class, but he is going to the one school that sends more signal-callers to the Heisman Trophy ceremony than any other. It is essentially a guarantee he will be a finalist at some point under Lincoln Riley.

While any of these five-star talents could represent their blue-blood programs at future Heisman presentations, keep in mind how many players in recent years have seemingly come out of nowhere to win it. Outside of Marcus Mariota in 2014 and Baker Mayfield in 2017 have we had a strong feeling about who was going to win the Heisman entering any particular season.

If any 2021 recruiting class standout wins a Heisman Trophy, it may be one of these five guys.
