Here are grades for the Ohio State football 2021 recruiting class as Ryan Day and his staff have another top-five group joining the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Suffice it to say that Ryan Day taking over as head coach of the Buckeyes hasn’t affected the Ohio State football recruiting trail in any negative way. This program is consistently tops in the Big Ten and they are clearly atop the conference in the 2021 recruiting cycle with one of the best incoming crops in the country.

With five 5-star prospects in addition to over a dozen 4-star prospects, Ohio State football is reloading their deep talent pool for the 2021 recruiting cycle.

So with that in mind, let’s delve into the group that’s heading to Columbus and hand out a grade for the Buckeyes class. All rankings are via the 247 Sports Composite.

Top Ohio State football 2021 commit: Jack Sawyer, SDE

From the Bosa brothers to Chase Young, the defensive ends in Columbus have been studs. Jack Sawyer could be the next player in that line. At 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, the Ohio native has plenty of athleticism, but what stands out the most is his motor. With that combination and with some coaching, Sawyer could be a double-digit sack player for the Buckeyes by his second season in the program.

Strengths, weaknesses of Ohio State football 2021 recruiting class

Ohio State is bringing in one of the most impressive wide receiver groups you’ll ever see. Headlined by the No. 1 player at the position, Emeka Egbuka, there are three top-100 guys and all four are top-200.

As for the weakest group, the Buckeyes are bringing in just one linebacker in this class. While they have a strong young crop ahead of this class, that is somewhere to at least pay attention to moving forward.

Diamond in the rough for Ohio State football: Jantzen Dunn, S

Dunn is only a 4-star prospect and ranks outside of the top 200 in the 247 Sports Composite. But his traits give him immense upside. At 6-foot-2, 178 pounds with elite explosiveness, he could develop into a playmaker that anchors the Buckeyes secondary down the road.

Where does Ohio State football rank in the 2021 recruiting cycle?

It’s no stunner to find that Ohio State is the top-ranked team in the Big Ten for the 2021 recruiting cycle as they have the No. 2-ranked class nationally. With how successful they’ve been, more and more talent keeps pouring into Columbus.

Ohio State football 2021 recruiting grade: A+

Alabama is set to have a historically good recruiting class, and Ohio State isn’t far behind. That speaks to the quality of the Buckeyes’ haul and the fact that they aren’t letting up anytime soon.
