Dan Mullen has added some extra spice to the SEC Championship Game, saying with confidence Florida will beat Alabama.

If the Alabama Crimson Tide were looking for some extra motivation to come away with a win on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game, Dan Mullen has just provided it. On Thursday, Mullen went ahead and guaranteed that Florida will take down ‘Bama.

It goes without saying, but making this kind of statement is only going to fire up the players and coaches in Tuscaloosa. How is this going to play out for Mullen and the Gators?

Dan Mullen may have made a big mistake guaranteeing a Florida win over Alabama

This is an interesting strategy, let’s see how it works out for him. The Gators are underdogs going up against the undefeated Tide. Despite losing so many stars to the NFL, Alabama is once again in the middle of an incredible season. Behind the strong play of Mac Jones, Najee Harris, Devonta Smith and others, Alabama is a perfect 10-0 on the year and is ranked No. 1 in the country.

Alabama at No. 1? What else is new? Meanwhile for Florida, they’re the No. 7 team in the land and enter Saturday with an 8-2 record. Florida has suffered losses this campaign to Texas A&M and LSU. The loss to Ed Orgeron and LSU was a monster upset, a game Florida had no business losing.

Now, Mullen is ready to guarantee his guys will be ready to take down mighty Alabama a week after LSU beat them 37-34? Saturday’s SEC Championship Game should be a battle and Mullen has only made things even more entertaining with his latest comments. Should Alabama cruise to an easy win, Mullen will surely look foolish after the final whistle.
