The Iowa State Cyclones look to defeat the Oklahoma Sooners for the second time this season, but this time it’s for the Big 12 Championship.

The Big 12 football conference got off to a pretty bad start this season and the two teams playing in the conference’s championship game were at the center of it all. Both the Iowa State Cyclones and the Oklahoma Sooners found themselves scratching their heads as they stumbled out of the gates to kick off the 2020 season.

Iowa State opened up their season with a 17-point loss at home to Louisiana. Now granted, the Ragin’ Cajuns are 9-1 and currently ranked No. 19 but when you are a Power Five football team a loss to a member of the Sun Belt conference is never a good look. But the Cyclones did not let that loss define their season and went on to win eight of their nine conference games, with their loss being to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 24-21. Among those eight wins were the Oklahoma Sooners.

But that was not the Sooners’ first loss of the season. A week before Iowa State and a week after annihilating Missouri State, the Sooners lost to the Kansas State Wildcats, just as they did in 2019. So just three weeks into the season and Oklahoma found itself sitting at 1-2, unranked, and realistically out of the playoff picture. But just like the Cyclones, the Sooners finished the season strong, winning their last six games, a stretch that saw Oklahoma score over 50 points in three games.

The Big 12 was on pace to be the COVID version of college football before the Big Ten came and proudly took it upon themselves to wear that title. But despite the slow start, both teams are hot and are looking to make a statement to build off of heading into bowl season, as well as the 2021 season.

The Sooners want revenge and want to show the rest of the Big 12 that they are still the top dog of the conference. But Iowa State wants to prove that this season and that their previous win over the Sooners was no fluke, and that there is a new sheriff in town. Can the Cyclones take out Oklahoma a second time? Or will we once again see the Sooners raise the conference championship trophy?

Here’s how to watch and bet on the Iowa State vs. Oklahoma game

Prediction: The Big 12 is known for its offensive firepower and high-scoring matchups but in this matchup, both teams’ defenses have been pretty good. The Sooners have allowed 22 points per game, 234.2 passing yards per game, and 88.1 rushing yards per game while the Cyclones have allowed just 21.3 points per game, 235 passing yards per game, and just over 100 rushing yards per game. Offensively, the Sooners lean more to the pass while the Cyclones have a more balanced attack that is lead by a run game. If Iowa State cannot get their run game going, the Sooners will take this one easily. Fortunately for them, Breece Hall continues his breakout season and leads the Cyclones to a Big 12 Championship.

Score: Iowa State 37, Oklahoma 34.
