Oklahoma football: Former 5-star WR Trejan Bridges to make 2020 debut vs. Iowa State in Big 12 Championship Game
Oklahoma is getting reinforcements for the Big 12 Championship Game vs. Iowa State.
Former five-star recruit Trejan Bridges is set to make his season debut for Oklahoma football in the Big 12 Championship Game vs. Iowa State.
Bridges has been suspended all season after failing a drug test ahead of the Peach Bowl last season. Despite being suspended for the year, Bridges has been able to practice all season as he waited for clearance from the NCAA to return to the field.
Trejan Bridges can help Oklahoma win the Big 12 vs. Iowa State
The former top recruit caught a pair of touchdowns last year, including one vs. Iowa State who he’ll see on Saturday as the Sooners look for revenge after losing to the Cyclones earlier in the regular-season.
Bridges was suspended along with Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson who made their returns on Oct. 31 vs. Texas Tech and has given a significant boost to the Sooners since. The hope for Oklahoma football coaches fans and his teammates are that he’ll be able to quickly make up for lost time and help the Sooners win the Big 12.
Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley expected Bridges to make his return and acknowledged the process has been hard on the sophomore.
“It’s been very difficult for him,” Riley said via the Oklahoman. “And he’s doing his best to push through. And we’re going (our) best to help him through it. And he’s gonna get through it. He’s getting close here.
“So he’s gonna get through it and he’s gonna be OK and he’s gonna be a really good player. Just gotta hang in there a little bit longer.”
Oklahoma and Iowa State play at 12:00 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium with the game broadcast on FOX.
