ACC Championship Game: Clemson will be without Xavier Thomas vs. Notre Dame
By John Buhler
Clemson will not have defensive lineman Xavier Thomas available vs. Notre Dame.
The Clemson Tigers will be without defensive lineman Xavier Thomas when they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the ACC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon.
Clemson football fans have to be worried about this, as this is a must-win game for the Tigers if they want to win the ACC for the sixth year in a row to make the College Football Playoff. Regardless of what happens in Charlotte, Notre Dame football fans can feel confident about the Golden Domers making the four-team field. Clemson will be a man down in this major title bout.
Who is more likely to win the ACC Championship Game: Clemson or Notre Dame?
Given that Notre Dame beat Clemson earlier in the season, the Tigers have a bad taste in their mouth they surely want to get rid of. Keep in mind star quarterback Trevor Lawrence did not play in the game up in South Bend, as he was still recovering from the coronavirus. Even if Thomas does not play in this game, Clemson is a sizable favorite over Notre Dame on a neutral site.
If Clemson loses to Notre Dame again, the Tigers will miss the playoff for the first time since 2014.
