Lincoln Riley is the apparently the Michael Jordan of the Oklahoma football program.

After winning his sixth straight Big 12 Championship as a part of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, head coach Lincoln Riley took to Twitter to let us know he has as many championship rings as Michael Jordan.

While Oklahoma football fans will have to wait at least another year for the Sooners to be national champions, every year Riley has been on their coaching staff, the Sooners have won the Big 12. He served as Bob Stoops’ offensive coordinator in 2015 and 2016 before taking over for his mentor full-time in 2017. All the while, Oklahoma has made AT&T Stadium its second home.

Overall, Riley is six-for-six in winning Big 12 championships.

This is what happens when you have the right coach at the right blue-blood

With two losses on the season, Oklahoma needed a little bit of extra motivation to avenge an early-season loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. After beating Matt Campbell’s team 27-21 in Arlington, a third senior class in a row got to leave Norman as Big 12 champions every year they were in school. Few programs in the country win as prolifically in-conference as Oklahoma does.

As for what the future holds for the Sooners, they are likely destined to be playing in the Cotton Bowl Classic as part of the New Year’s Six. They have next to no chance to make the College Football Playoff, as they will likely be either the second or third team out in the final rankings of this season. Regardless, Oklahoma has found its stride and continues to play hard for Riley.

Riley now has as many Big 12 championship rings as Jordan has for winning NBA Finals.
