There is a bit of a better late than never attitude to this college basketball season as some marquee non-conference matchups had to get rescheduled due to COVID-19 concerns. This is the case with one of the big games from the Big Ten/ACC Challenge featuring Louisville and Wisconsin, which got delayed until today due to a positive COVID test in the Cardinals’ program.

This matchup is a big test for Louisville, which hasn’t played since Dec. 1 due to their pause. The Cardinals have scored one nice victory in non-conference play when they topped Seton Hall by a point in late November but the Badgers will be a step up in weight class.

Wisconsin, one of the favorites to win the Big Ten this season, is off to a 5-1 start with the lone defeating coming by a bucket against Marquette. The strength of Wisconsin is its deep rotation filled with upperclassmen led by seniors Micah Potter, D’Mitrik Trice, Nate Reuvers and Brad Davison. The quartet all average over 10 points a game for the Badgers, giving Wisconsin a well-balanced attack that isn’t reliant on one star making plays to generate offense.

Louisville also enters this matchup ranked at no. 23 but going on the road to play Wisconsin at the Kohl Center is never easy. Look for the Badgers to try and frustrate the Cardinals by slowing the tempo, emphasizing half-court basketball and fundamentals that can get a bit rusty over the course of a COVID pause.
