Jarrett Guarantano has played his last down for the Tennessee football team.
After five years with the Tennessee Volunteers, quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has entered the transfer portal and will play his sixth year of college football somewhere else.
Guarantano had been Tennessee football’s starting quarterback entering his redshirt senior season in 2020. After a 2-0 start, the Vols went 1-7 in their final SEC games. Guarantano was eventually replaced by freshman Harrison Bailey primarily as the team’s starting quarterback. Since this year does not count towards one’s eligibility, Guarantano has one last year of ball.

A change of scenery will do Jarrett Guarantano a world of good
Guarantano’s five-year tenure with Tennessee was marred by consistent inconsistencies. For a seasoned starting quarterback in the SEC, Guarantano rarely had the game where he would not make a dumb mistake under center that ended up costing his team.

The game just ended and Jarrett Guarantano is already in the transfer portal.

Does Jeremy Pruitt get sacked after finishing 3-7? #Vols x #TAMUvsTENN https://t.co/7FW7VvFEU1
Jarrett Guarantano gave #Vols everything he had. Sometimes it wasn’t good enough, and sometimes it was rough, but lack of effort or care was never the issue.

Really hope people let the kid move on with his life and enjoy a fresh start elsewhere.
Guarantano submitting his name into the transfer portal shortly after the Vols fell to 3-7 on the year by way of a home blowout to the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies could mean head coach Jeremy Pruitt may be on his way out, too.
I’m sure a duel threat QB like Jarrett Guarantano will have takers. I mean, he has the uncanny ability to fumble at inopportune times & hit DB’s in stride for Pick 6’s. Everyone wants that in a quarterback! https://t.co/2c2gLKmyzv

I think we all know that Jarrett Guarantano will end up at Arkansas State

While some are wishing Guarantano well on his new team, many Vols fans cannot wait for him to get out of town to reunite with his former head coach Butch Jones at Arkansas State.

🤝
Never graduating,
never improving
Jeremy Pruitt should be fired solely for playing Jarrett Guarantano this season when he had Shrout and Bailey on the roster.

Jarrett Guarantano started all season and he’s the 4th best QB on the roster

Not a surprise, but still cool to see Jarrett Guarantano shown on the sideline helping to coach up Harrison Bailey. Classy vet to the end.

Again, this was never about a lack of class from Guarantano. He was a good teammate to the very end at Tennessee. Unfortunately, it did not work out for him there like most of us had envisioned for him. With him heading elsewhere, perhaps Guarantano can tap into all the potential he had coming out of high school as a top recruit several years ago. Best wishes to him at his next school.
It is the end of an era in Knoxville with Guarantano opting to enter the transfer portal.
