Social media was heated after the final College Football Playoff rankings were revealed.
The College Football Playoff field is set and social media had a field day picking apart what the Selection Committee inherently got wrong this time around.
As expected, the SEC Champion Alabama Crimson Tide were the No. 1 seed, the ACC Champion Clemson Tigers were the No. 2 seed and the Big Ten Champion Ohio State Buckeyes were the No. 3 seed. What everybody is mad about is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish getting in at No. 4 over the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies and the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners ranked ahead of undefeated Cincinnati.
Did the College Football Playoff Selection Committee get the right four teams in?
Nobody has any issues with the top-two seeds, as Alabama and Clemson are the two concurrent college football dynasties. What people are upset over is a 6-0 Ohio State team getting the benefit of the doubt from the Selection Committee, as well as a 10-1 Notre Dame team getting blown out by Clemson only a day prior and still getting in.
Hold a vote right now on the 4 NFL teams that should make the playoffs. See how that works out. Voting on the 4 playoff teams in college football is an absolute JOKE. One day, when the sport wisens up, we’ll all look back with laughter at this broken system. #votelol

College football playoff committee...the collective lack of balls in that room.

Texas A&M ends up on the outside looking in at the College Football Playoff. Now the question becomes where the 5th ranked Aggies go? Cotton Bowl or Orange Bowl? #GigEm

Texas A&M had a decent argument to get in, but the Selection Committee did not want a No. 1 vs. No. 4 rematch between the Aggies and the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl by any means.
“Justin Fields, how would you like to play in the College Football Playoff this year?”

Notre Dame’s 24-point loss to Clemson is the largest loss by any team ever to make the College Football Playoff. Georgia lost by 23 to Auburn at Auburn, but then beat Auburn by 21 in the SEC championship game.

It’s not a playoff just because they wrote the word “playoff” next to “College Football.” The system is flawed. Needs to change. Every other sport has a tournament. Thanks. #CFP

Disband this College Football Playoff committee and rebuild it from scratch.
— Nick Bromberg (@NickBromberg) December 20, 2020
The top four is fine but the way they evaluate teams is an absolute mess.
But the team that might have the biggest beef with the Selection Committee is Cincinnati, who went undefeated this season and beat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to win the American Athletic Conference Championship game. The No. 7 Bearcats will have to settle for the Group of 5 bid.
You positioned Iowa State @ 6, dropped us to 9 without losses for one reason and one reason only.
— Barstool Cincinnati (@UCBarstool) December 20, 2020
To make sure that if they lost to Oklahoma, you could propel YOUR preselected team from the beginning of the season ahead of us.@CFBPlayoff you are absolute garbage
scrap the electoral college football playoff selection committee

The final disrespect for Cincinnati has been logged. And the final inflation of the Big 12. Oklahoma at No. 6 is absurd.
— Pat Forde (@ByPatForde) December 20, 2020
What this college football season told us is the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will never value what any team does out of the Group of 5. They put a two-loss Power 5 champion Oklahoma Sooners over an undefeated Bearcats team that never succumbed to defeat this year.
Dear Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina and whom it may concern,

Please turn down bowl bids, negotiate the TV rights and play each other. Winner claims a share of the natty.

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame
5. Texas A&M
6. Oklahoma
The ESPN show at least pays Cincinnati some attention, barely mentions Oklahoma, but the committee puts the Sooners at No. 6.#Bearcats left on the outside, through no fault of their own.
Cincinnati — like every other Group of 5 team, each and every season — never stood a chance of making the #CFBPlayoff

Say it with me, folks, the system is BROKEN
I declare Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina national co-champions, presented by UCF.

Ultimately, people are going to clamor for inevitable playoff expansion from four to eight teams. That might temporarily satisfy everyone’s needs, but we all know No. 1 Alabama is going to blow out No. 4 Notre Dame. In short, three teams are usually capable of winning a national title and rarely ever more than that. For now, we must complain to our hearts’ content on Twitter and such.
What playoff game are you more excited about: The Rose Bowl with Clemson and Ohio State or the Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Notre Dame?
