The New York Jets won their first game of the season, costing them Trevor Lawrence.

With two games left in the season, there’s a new NFL Draft order for the first time all year. The Jets have tanked from start to finish, until their grand plan (perhaps not for Adam Gase) failed, with a win over the Los Angeles Rams on the road. The Rams are playoff bound — and don’t even get us started on that preposterous result — making the Jets win all the more improbable.

Just weeks after nearly defeating the Las Vegas Raiders at home, New York finally has their first W of the year. Unfortunately, it might also cost them their chance at a franchise-altering signal-caller. Trevor Lawrence is the best NFL Draft prospect since Andre Luck, and he’s guaranteed to be selected first this coming April. Now, the Jaguars are first in line for his services thanks to the strength-of-schedule tiebreaker with the Jets.

Jets fans are unhappy their team won a football game

It’s a rare feat that any NFL fan would be furious with their own team over a win, but that’s the position the Jets placed their supporters in this Sunday.

New York’s backup plan isn’t that bad. Heck, they could wind up with Ohio State’s Justin Fields, who himself is among the more elite quarterback prospects in recent memory. Or, they could add to their offensive line with Oregon’s Penei Sewell and keep Sam Darnold for another year.

Regardless, should the Jets miss out on Lawrence, the upcoming NFL Draft os full of can’t-miss prospects. Fear not, New York — there may yet be a way back to relevancy without the Clemson signal-caller.
