5 breakout fantasy football stars to pick up for Week 16
If your season is still alive, here are five potential breakout stars this week.
Let’s be real here. At this stage, this article will probably only grace the eyes of a very select few fantasy general managers. This week marks the final championship games for almost every league. Unless you are unfortunately in a league where your commissioner scheduled finals in Week 17.
Luckily, at this point in the actual NFL season, playoff seeding is still up in the air. Therefore, the thought that some teams may sit starters should not be too much of a worry just yet. This is especially helpful to those who roster players on some of the league’s best teams, as these clubs still have something to play for.
There are a few quarterbacks and receivers who are lined up for good matchups in Week 16. Operating with that in mind, it is time to float five names past you to focus most of your attention on this week.

The Jalen Hurts‘ hype train is barreling down the tracks with a full stack of steam. This means you should act with patience. As you can see, his roster percentage is rather high for a rookie quarterback who just became the team’s starter.
With that being said, Hurts is still a quarterback to consider adding in Week 16. Even with all that being said above, he is a value pick waiting to happen.
Now, here is why you should evaluate him. Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys this week. Defensively, the Cowboys have struggled mightily this season, so much so that Mike Nolan reportedly may not be back in 2021 after just one year on the job.
Dallas has not been fantastic against quarterbacks. Though, this unit has limited the passing yards against them. Hurts, in his first couple of games, has been able to move the ball on offense for the Eagles. While he did not blow everyone away as a passer in his first start, he was great in this area last week. Although, his running has allowed the Eagles to be a more fluid offensive team.
In Hurts’ first career start in Week 14, he threw for one touchdown with 167 yards. He also ran the ball 18 times for 106 yards. The potential to have a multi-touchdown day is high against a Cowboys team that is in some sort of disarray, as Hurt is a threat to score through the air and on the ground.
