BYU QB Zach Wilson racked up 5 touchdowns … in the first half
BYU’s Zach Wilson tore it up in the first half against UFC in some bowl season action.
BYU and UFC are squaring off Tuesday night in the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Nothing brings college football fans a feeling of normalcy quite like a ridiculously named bowl game.
BYU had a 10-1 campaign in 2020 and quarterback Zach Wilson proved why in the first half against UFC. He not only threw for three touchdowns, but ran for two more. Just your everyday five-touchdown half with well over 300 yards.
Wilson ends it early for BYU
This total domination from Wilson and the BYU offense put this game out of reach early. His team entered the fourth quarter with a 49-17 lead and he didn’t even score a touchdown in the third quarter.
Wilson is near the top of the 2021 quarterback class and is putting on quite the performance in his showcase game. The accuracy is there and he is simply building upon a season that saw him throw 30 touchdowns and only three interceptions.
The BYU signal-caller is not going to overtake Trevor Lawrence on any draft boards. Let’s not get crazy here. But a game like this is going to boost his stock heading into an offseason where game tape is going to be the most important thing for NFL front offices. The usual in-person events are going to be limited or all transferred to virtual.
BYU will finish this wild season 11-1 and would be undefeated if not for a nail-biting loss against Coastal Carolina. They persevered through the ups and downs and Wilson playing his best football during it all speaks volumes about him as a prospect and as a person in general.
He didn’t get five touchdowns in the second half, but BYU had plenty of points to cruise to victory in Boca Raton.
