Chiefs fans will love what Patrick Mahomes said about his confidence in Le’Veon Bell (Video)
Patrick Mahomes made it quite clear he’s got all the confidence in the world in Le’Veon Bell moving forward.
Despite taking down the New Orleans Saints in Week 15, the Kansas City Chiefs weren’t all smiles after the final whistle. Unfortunately for head coach Andy Reid and the rest of the team, star rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with an ankle and hip injury, ending his regular season.
While the hope is Edwards-Helaire will be able to return for the playoffs, his status moving forward is very much up in the air. With that being the case, the workload is only going to increase for Le’Veon Bell. If you ask Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs fans have nothing to worry about, as the reigning Super Bowl MVP is confident in the veteran speedster.
Patrick Mahomes knows Le’Veon Bell can be a playmaker for the Chiefs
“I’m extremely confident,” Mahomes said of Bell’s play. “He’s had success everywhere he’s been. I mean, he’s been a top running back for a long time now and I think he fits into our locker room really well. He’s done a great job in the amount of snaps he’s gotten so far and I’m sure he’ll continue to do better and better as he continues to get more snaps.”
As you can tell from Mahomes’ comments, he really has no doubt that Bell will be able to help the Kansas City offense continue to give opposing defenses countless headaches. Thus far this season, Bell has rushed the ball 75 times for 298 yards and two touchdowns.
He’ll earn his first start of the season in Week 16 with a showdown against the Atlanta Falcons. With the Chiefs looking to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC, all eyes will be on Mahomes to see if he can out-battle Matt Ryan on Sunday. However, there will now be some extra pressure on Bell to step his game up. Mahomes has no doubt he’ll be able to do that.
