Yadier Molina wants to sign with the Cardinals and it’s on them to get it done
Per a report, Yadier Molina has made it known to the St. Louis Cardinals that he’d like to stay in town and keep playing for the club.
Among one of the biggest questions for Major League Baseball fans this offseason surrounds Yadier Molina’s future. One Day, Molina will potentially head to the Hall of Fame, but he’s looking to put the finishing touches on his career first.
A free agent, there are multiple teams who are interested in signing the talented catcher. However, Molina has reportedly told the Cardinals he’d like to stay home and close out his career in St. Louis. Will the team give him what he wants with a new contract?

Per Cardinals beat writer Derrick Goold, a deal between the Cardinals and Molina could be done rather quickly. Right now, however, the ball is in St. Louis’ court. Molina wants to stay and it’s looking like St. Louis is his preferred destination rather than testing free agency and visiting with other clubs.
At the same time, the Cardinals don’t appear to be in a big rush to get something done, which could prove to be a big mistake. Molina has been with the team since 2004, making nine All-Star Game appearances.
Throughout his time with the club, the Puerto Rican native has belted 160 homers and recorded 932 RBI. Behind the plate, Molina is known as one of the best catchers in the game and his rocket for an arm has thrown out countless would-be stealers over the years.
With the 2021 campaign right around the corner, it’s up in the air where he’ll end up playing. If you ask Cardinals fans, they don’t want him to go anywhere.
