NFL  DFS Bargain Bin: Week 16 Sunday Slates Tight Ends

Logan Thomas, WFT vs. CAR ($4,900-DK/$6,000-FD)

Thomas is coming off a jaw-dropping 13-catch, 101-yard effort against the Seahawks in Week 15, a performance that led to 26.1 DK/16.6 FD points. It remains to be seen if Thomas will once again work with Dwayne Haskins against Carolina or if Alex Smith (calf) will be under center, but in either case, the veteran could be poised for another productive performance against a Panthers defense that’s faced the fourth-most tight-end targets (110) in the league.

That volume has led to Carolina giving up a 78-789-7 line to the position, along with 14.4 DK/11.4 FD points per contest. Thomas is now averaging just under seven targets per game following his Week 15 explosion, and he has a considerable red-zone role with 15 targets inside the 20-yard line on the season. Thomas also lays claim to an impressive 18.4 percent of Washington’s targets, making him a strong cash-game or tournament play at what should still be considered very reasonable salaries for his upside, especially with star wideout Terry McLaurin (ankle) doubtful for the contest.

Tyler Higbee, LAR at SEA ($4,000-DK/$5,800-FD)

Higbee offers some nice upside at his salaries due to his ability to get downfield, and he could have a solid role in a key game for the Rams against the division-rival Seahawks. Seattle wins the NFC West with a victory, so L.A., which is fighting to ensure a postseason spot first and foremost, should remain aggressive in a contest against a Seattle squad that sports a No. 24 ranking in pass defense DVOA despite playing better in recent games.

The Seahawks have given up a 60-730-5 line to tight ends this season, with Higbee having posted a 3-60 line on six targets against them in Week 10. The fifth-year pro has two touchdown grabs in the last three games and has a 10-125-2 line overall in that span. Higbee also sports an impressive 76.0 percent catch rate, and there’s certainly a downfield component to his game that’s evidenced by his seven receptions of greater than 20 yards. With his salaries particularly low on both sites, he makes for an appealing value option at a position that can be challenging for DFS purposes.
