Jalen Hurts hook up with DeSean Jackson is a sight for sore eyes in Philadelphia

DeSean Jackson made his return to the Eagles lineup on Sunday, and he’s already established an electric connection with Jalen Hurts. 

Tides appear to be turning in Philadelphia.

After replacing Carson Wentz as the Eagles starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts has looked every bit the franchise quarterback Philly has been looking for. Now that he’s getting a full arsenal of weapons at his disposal, Hurts is getting even more dangerous than he already appeared to be.

DeSean Jackson made his return to the Eagles lineup on Sunday and went straight to work in establishing an electric connection with his new quarterback. The two hooked up for an 81-yard touchdown, something made even sweeter since it happened in Dallas against the hated Cowboys.

Jackson hasn’t played since Week 7 but finally came off injured reserve this week.

His return couldn’t have come at a better time. Hurts has been dealing ever since taking over starting duties and the Eagles are still in a position to win the hapless NFC East.

Of course, anyone not aboard the Hurts train is going to be quick to point out that Wentz didn’t have the weapons that Hurts is playing with, and could be doing a similar job. But that person would be telling on themselves that this is the first time they’ve watched the Eagles this year because Wentz did nothing more than prove he is a broken quarterback in need of fixing.

The issue for the Eagles could be that at some point they might need to see what Wentz has left in the tank. He’s too expensive to release and just as expensive to trade, so the former No. 2 pick is burning a hole through the books by riding the bench. The case that he’s had a bad shake this season is mildly valid — injuries have ravaged the Eagles all year — but the better Hurts looks the harder it’s going to be to do anything other than continue to ride the hot hand.

As long as highlights like this one are the result, not many Eagles fans will be complaining.
