5 Minnesota Vikings who likely won’t be back in 2021
Given the opportunity to start alongside Harrison Smith in 2019, Harris had a league-leading six interceptions as Pro Football Focus graded him out as the second-best safety in the league. He further bolstered his case to cash in as a free agent with an interception in the Vikings’ playoff win over the Saints.
The Vikings did not agree to a multi-year deal with Harris last offseason, and they brought him back on the franchise tag ($11.441 million). That kept the door open to trading him, but nothing materialized. With how he has looked for most of this season (zero interceptions, five pass breakups through 15 games), it looks like the Vikings dodged a serious multi-year financial bullet.

Harris is third on the team in total tackles going into Week 17 with 96, which is a nod to the ineptitude all around him as much as anything. But he’s not been anything close to the ballhawk he was in 2019, and that is what the Vikings (or another team) would be paying him for. He is as good as gone this offseason.
